"Oh come let us adore Him...."
I send greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This has truly been an exciting year for the Greater MD 1st Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. The Lord has truly dwelt amongst us during the various services and gatherings that have taken place during this calendar year.
The Annual Service of Rededication and Jurisdictional Appointments is where we had our first jurisdictional service. Later we would gather during the Worker’s Meeting, Jurisdictional A.I.M, and our Holy Convocation. With the various department meetings, district meetings, and public gatherings, each proved to be a wonderful gathering of the saints of Greater MD. The successes of these events were due to the presence of the Lord descending upon us, and the support of each one of you,the members of this great jurisdiction. Your support is invaluable as we endeavor to take this jurisdiction the next level.
I am thankful to each and every one of you who has not only supported the vision of this jurisdiction with your prayers, but also with your financial support and Godly wisdom. In an effort to continue the enhancing of Greater MD 1st we once again held our Jurisdiction summit. During this time, we discuss the current state of our jurisdiction, and the goals for said jurisdiction in the upcoming year. Details of a presentation given on Thursday night of the summit can be downloaded off of the website.
I look forward to seeing you at the final occasion of our calendar year. The Christmas fellowship, convening at the Emmanuel Ministries Church of God In Christ, is where we will once again enjoy the presence of the Lord during the season that was created to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Once again I thank you support and prayers as we continue to ascend higher in God.

Service of Rededication & Jursidictional Appointments |

“Oh magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.”
The Greater MD First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction held their annual Service of Rededication and Jurisdictional Appointments at the Maryland Church of God In Christ. While being lead in worship by the Superintendent James Jordan (G.E. Patterson Memorial District), the presence of the Lord once again dwelt amongst the congregants. The jurisdictional choir sang “I Got A Reason” lead by Sister Katina Hunt which helped to usher in a moment of praise. During Bishop Lyles’ address to the congregation, he would state that in 2012 the Lord will put things “in order.” On behalf of our Prelate, Superintendent Willie Hunt (C. L. Mccoy District) would bring the official message which was punctuated by his theme for 2012, “For He that is mighty hath done to me great things and Holy is his name .”
After the message, Elder Derick Johnson, Assistant Jurisdictional Secretary, would read the names of those that have been reappointed and newly appointed to serve the Jurisdiction in varying capacities. 2012 is off to a great start and the jurisdiction looks forward to continuing in that direction.

Proclamation concerning marriage
We, the Presiding Bishop, the General Board and the Board of Bishops of the Church of God in Christ, solemnly proclaim that the institution of marriage was established and ordained by God (Genesis 2:24). Therefore "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them" (Genesis 1:27). He created "the woman for the man" (I Corinthians 11:9). Therefore, "marriage is honorable" (Hebrews 13:4). We believe that since the beginning of recorded history, in most cultures of the world; marriage has been defined as the lawful union of one man and one woman. The traditional form of marriage is one of the bedrock institutions of most societies. We, therefore, affirm the preservation of the present definition of marriage as being the legal union of one man and one woman as husband and wife. Read more
